Carol Brown

Carol received a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in social work and psychology. She received her Masters of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Carol has been a resident of Sevier Co. for 28 years. She first worked at the Sevier Medical Center Nursing Home, where she provided individual counseling to the residents and their families.

Carol also worked at PASAAC (Project Against Sexual Abuse of Appalachian Children) for 8 years. She provided individual and group therapy to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. She worked two days a week in Sevier Co. providing treatment to children who were sexually abused and their families.

Carol has spent the past 15 years providing psychotherapy to adults in community mental health centers. She worked four years at Overlook Center (now Peninsula Behavioral Health Center) in Sevier Co., and has worked the last 11 years at Cherokee Health Systems in Cocke Co. While at Overlook Center and Cherokee Health Systems, Carol has supervised Master level therapists and Master level students. She has also been a member of the Child Abuse Review Team in both Sevier and Cocke Counties.

Carol has experience in treating depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress and grief.

She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Clinical Social Workers.
